So I set out to find the best makeup tools and the best products on the market to end my brow troubles and I have also created a top list of each.

Get good brow brush kit
Your eyebrows stand out and draw people to you and what’s better than a tool that will make them stand out and emphasise your gorgeous eyebrows. You need a brush kit and a good at that because this will define the flow of the hairs and even aid you when cutting and trimming.
You need to really work your eyebrows into shape so the brush is a perfect for well ermmm brushing your brows. This works perfectly to brush your brows back into place after filling them in with brow pencil or powder. I have written a list of my Best Brush Kits to help anyone make a decision on which one to get.
Also another consideration is that you need a comb that won’t break we’ve all gone through a couple of combs where the plastic teeth break off just looking at the quality and feeling how strong the comb is this is definitely going to last and get the job done.
Learn how to use a eyebrow pencil PROPERLY
So when I first got my eyebrow pencil I thought…This will be easy… I just draw them on and done – perfect eyebrows right?…Oh how wrong I was. I never realised that drawing on eyebrows was such an art.
So before you even use the eyebrow pencil just STOP… first google “how to use an eyebrow pencil” – there are many video tutorials showing you how to use an eyebrow pencil, and it actually amazing to watch I didn’t even think that using an eyebrow pencil require that much skill.

Which eyebrow pencil should I buy?
So now you know how to use the pencil properly however using the RIGHT eyebrow pencil is another story. There are REALLY bad ones out there which don’t last as long as they should and there are some REALLY expensive one which are not worth the money at all.
What shade should I go for?
So I always though the best shade to get would be the same as my hair colour but actually it’s not.
The secret is to go a hue that compliments the hair on your head, skin tone and eye colour.
Too dark and your will stand out too much, too light and the eyebrow pencil will not enhance the brows correctly. So, choose it carefully.

Get the right eyebrow powder for you
Eyebrow powers are good for quickly filling in light or sparse eyebrows to achieve a natural looking finish. You can get a variety of shades to match your eyebrows and can layer the powders to get you perfect brows. Another plus point is that if you do make a mistake its quite easy to rub away and correct.
You may notice most eyebrow powers come in to shades – the darker shade is good for areas with little or no hair, the lighter shade is good for the rest of the eyebrow.
You can brush a wax over the top of the powers to help it stay longer, or before the powder if you want a more defined look.
My personal opinion – although some are very good at first, I found the powder faded away over the day so for me good gel worked better to keep the look all day.
BUT if you are going to use powder get a recognised brand and make sure you read the reviews of the product; DON’T always trust the 5 start ratings, read some of the 2-4 stars as they tend to be the more honest.
Highlighter don’t have one? GOOD you don’t need it
Eyebrow highlighters can come in a powder format or a pencil format. Their purpose is to help your perfect eyebrow stand out even more.
If you don’t have one though, don’t rush out and buy one. You may already have a white, creamy, or slightly pinkish eyeshadow that can do the job just as well as an eyebrow highlighter – my conclusion, a waste of money, use a powder shadow to get better results.
Lovely pair of Tweezers to get every hair
It goes without say that in the quest to get the perfect brow you MUST own a good pair tweezers. You may already own a pair of tweezers, but if you don’t, it’s a good idea to have a think about the type of tweezers you want before buying one. Even if you are more of a waxer or threader, tweezers are a makeup bag essential as they are really useful for all sorts of things in life for example removing splinters, applying false lashes or doing nail art.
So what do you need to know about tweezers? If you ever go shopping for a tweezer you will be astonished at the variety of tweezers out there. At the end of the day it’s all down to personal preference however here’s’ a quick summary to help you choose.
- Slant tip tweezer – this is the ultimate classic tweezer good for tweezing and precise plucking.
- Point tip tweezer – good for picking thin, short hair and ingrowing hair.
- Pointed-Slant tweezer – best of both, for plucking, precision, nail art, in growing hairs and splinter. Good all-rounder and my personal preference.
- Round tip – softer on the skin but not great for plucking as it grabs many hairs at once
- Flat tip – again not so great for plucking…could work for applying false lashes.
- Arched Claw tweezer – advantage is that you can view what you are about to pluck.
- Wide grip tweezer – provides extra comfort and control.
Whichever shape tweezer you decide to choose make sure it has a STAINLESS STEEL TIP.
WHY? you ask – Stainless steel means they are less likely to rust, therefore avoiding skin irritations and they last longer.
Now you have your perfect tweezers you can start plucking your way to the perfect eyebrow but BE CAREFUL. TAKE IT SLOW and TAKE YOUR TIME as it so very easy to carried away. We’ve all done it before…just one more …just one more and, before you know it… DAMN there’s gaps where there should have been a hairs.
So what do you do if this happens to you? This is why I always have a backup plan…either a brow pencil or better still a brow gel.
If like me your eyebrows are not-so-full and you need a bit more ‘WOW! In your BROW’ I say …bring on the brow gel!
What is the Best Eyebrows Gel? I Found it!
The magic of Eyebrow Gel
Now some of you may be thinking – what is this eyebrow gel stuff? If so, you’re not the only one. I did not know of its existence until I did some research on ‘How DO you get nice eyebrows!’
Brow gel is the final step in achieving the perfect eyebrow look. It’s great for holding and defining and keeping your eyebrows in place. Some people feel that brow gel is not that important BUT think about it – would a hairstylist put all that effort into styling a hair-do and not finish it with hairspray? No silly.
Eyebrow gel normally comes in a tube which resembles mascara, but don’t be fooled into thinking it’s the same thing – the two products have a different ‘make-up’ so unless you want the ‘crumbling-off eyebrow’ look just don’t do it.
Eyebrow gels come in either a ‘Clear‘ gel or a ‘tinted’ gel.
Clear Brow gel
If you already have thick eyebrows, the clear gel may be sufficient for you. Clear gel can go on top of you fav’ eyebrow pencil. Be sure to clean the wand before putting it back into the tube to avoid contaminating the gel with eyebrow pencil colour.
If you feel you have finer, light grey or sparse eyebrows then go for a tinted eyebrow gel.
Tinted Brow Gel
Tinted eyebrow gels are great for making your eyebrows appear fuller by creating a natural looking brow. Tinted brow gel can be used in place of your eyebrow pencil so it’s a great time saver. The tinted gel generally comes in a couple of shades so you can match it to your existing shade.
TIP – If you need to choose between shades, go for the lighter shade as you can also add more layers to make it look darker.
How much to spend on Eyebrow Gel
Again, like all beauty products eyebrow gels can range in price and quality. It’s worth doing your research. Look at the product reviews from other users to see what they are saying about the product as you don’t want to waste your money on rubbish products. It’s worth getting a good quality one as this is the final touch. You want a brow gel that is east to apply, looks and feels natural without that ‘sticky’ feeling and most importantly will last all day. Also it’s a good idea to buy a waterproof gel in case you are caught in the rain or if you plan to go swimming.
One step closer to perfection….Semi-Permanent Eyebrow gel
If you want a professional look and want your brow gel to last you can buy Semi-permanent eyebrow gel. It can last up to 3 days or so until you’re ready to take it off so its perfect if you’re going on holiday or don’t want to keep reapplying your brow gel every day Semi-permanent gels are transfer proof/waterproof, do not flake or fade if you’re going swimming or exercising. Also feels flexible and comfortable. Some even have hair like fibres to make your brow look completely natural.
How do you use eyebrow gel?
Using eyebrow gel is simple and fool-proof. It only takes a few seconds.
Firstly take the eyebrow wand out and scrap the excess gel back into the tube. Use sparingly, you will find a little goes a long way. Next, comb in the direction on the existing hairs, working your way from the inside to the tip of your eyebrow. Repeat if necessary. That’s it and you’re done!
